How to Install a Wireless Video Surveillance System

There is no doubt that a surveillance system offers you the best way to protect your home. With the many different types of surveillance systems available, it is not difficult to choose the right fit for your security needs. One superior type of system is a wireless video surveillance network, but this system is only effective if it is installed correctly in your home. Installing a wireless video surveillance system is a bit tricky; learn how to effectively secure your home with this guide.
First: Determine camera positions
First, figure out where you want your cameras placed. Some highly recommended areas are a front door, back door, kitchen, office or bedroom. Focus the cameras on certain spots, and mount them with drywall screws. Depending on whether you have bullet-shaped cameras or dome-shaped cameras, you need to affix them different ways. Bullet-shaped cameras have holes that directly attach to the wall or ceiling. Dome-shaped cameras have brackets that are attached to the wall or ceiling first. The camera is then attached to the bracket.
Second: Place monitoring equipment
Hook up the equipment according to how the manufacturer dictates the set-up. Next, hook up the cameras to receivers. You can either hook up a separate receiver for each camera, or connect four cameras to one receiver.
Third: System test
To make sure the system is running properly, turn all of the equipment on; you should see your video feed. Record five to 10 minutes of feed, stop the video, and review the footage using your monitoring equipment. Once you finish with that, burn the footage to a disc and see if the disc plays in a computer.
